The Delhi police have arrested a key member of a gang that used to commit burglaries in hi-rise apartments in Gurgaon.

Brought on transit remand by Gurgaon police, the 40-year old burglar, Arif alias Kaloo, alleged he and his gang members would enter hi-rise gated communities in a Skoda car and break into locked apartments during daytime when the
occupants were away.
His accomplices are still
at large.
The clean-shaven and good looking burglars would exude a high level of confidence before the security guards at the
gates while entering the condominiums.
Station house officer of Sector 56 police station Sajjan Singh said Arif was a good speaker and knew English too.
“This man belongs to Hapur in UP and has been in the ‘burglary trade’ for 18-20 years. He is already wanted in about 60-65 cases in Hapur and Seelampur,” Singh said.
The officer said Arif had been active in Delhi and NCR towns. “He admitted his involvement in the serial burglaries in Sector 54 and 56. He said that there was a group of about five people with him who are at large.”
Explaining the modus operandi, the SHO said the gang would travel in a Skoda car and enter condominiums where security guards would not object to their entry.
“They did not enter the condos where security guards would ask too many a questions,” Singh said.
