NGO demands action against Ramadoss
NGO writes letters to the EC, PM demanding action against Ramadoss for his alleged interference in the functioning of AIIMS.
An NGO and an organisation of IIT alumini on Wednesday wrote letters to the Election Commission and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding action against Health Minister A Ramadoss for his alleged interference in the functioning of AIIMS.
"The entire knowledge community is shocked in the manner in which the Health Minister has tried to undo the autonomy given to the Institute of the eminence of AIIMS," the Pan IIT Foundation for Rural Transformation said in a letter to the Prime Minister.

"...Combining the two positions of Minister and Head of Institute leads to day-to-day interference in the affairs of the Institute thereby completely subverting the norms of good governance and eminence," it said.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami, NGO Youth for Equality and Excellence (YFEE) demanded disqualification of Ramadoss as Member of Parliament for holding "office of profit" as the President of AIIMS.
"The office of the President, AIIMS enjoys various powers and functions and also entitles the incumbent various perks and allowances which make it an "office of profit", YFEE President Omesh Saigal said in the letter.
"As per various decisions of the Honourable Supreme Court an the Election Commission, Since A Ramadoss hold an "office of profit" he should be disqualified from continuing as member of Parliament," he said.
