The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday adjourned twice, first for 30 minutes and then for the day, following uproar on the issue of alleged attack on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad near Vadodara by some Sangh Parivar activists.

Trouble broke out when RJD members supported by their Congress counterparts created noisy scenes over what they termed as "pre-meditated conspiracy" against the Railway Minister who had gone to Samalaya in connection with a train accident.

With the BJP benches vehemently countering the allegation, the House was thrown into turmoil in the post-lunch session forcing its adjournment for 30 minutes.

When it re-assembled, it was action replay with both the sides refusing to yield to repeated requests from Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan to restore order.

As the protest continued, the Chair adjourned the House till Monday.

Earlier, raising the issue, Santosh Bagrodia (Congress) demanded removal of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi alleging he had failed to provide adequate security to a Union Cabinet Minister.

This triggered angry outbursts from BJP benches with Sushma Swaraj questioning how someone could be blamed without any investigation.
