Second instalment for J&K quake victims

J&K Government has released the second instalment of Rs 30,000 each in favour of 446 quake victims.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has released the second instalment of Rs 30,000 each in favour of 446 quake victims of Teetwal and Tangdhar, where life is fast returning to normal.

The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Basharat Ahmad handed over cheques of Rs 30,000 each to the Sub District Magistrate for distribution amongst the quake hit families as second instalment of the financial assistance provided by the government.

Nine months after the killer earthquake on October 8, 2005, life has returned to normal in Teetwal and Tanghdar areas of the border district of Kupwara, which experienced severe damages.

The civil administration in collaboration with Army adopted Teetwal which now has an amusement park with a playing field and a common facility centre.

The reconstruction of a High School with an operative computer centre having computers provided by the President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam during his visit to the area is an added attraction for students.
