SIMI activist arrested, remanded to ATS custody

He was held for his alleged involvement in the serial blasts in the communter trains on July 11, police said.

Etesham Siddiqui, an activist of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), was arrested on Saturday for his alleged involvement in the serial blasts in communter trains on July 11, police said.

Siddiqui was produced before a court which remanded him to police custody till August 14.

He was earlier arrested on July 29 by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act from suburban Mira Road.

ATS had also seized a lot of pamphlets of the banned SIMI from him.

He was arrested again for his alleged involvement in the July 11 bomb blasts, ATS sources said.
