Korean swimmer pips Jaspal Rana to win Most Valuable Player award
Indian marksman Jaspal Rana was pipped to the post by Korean Swimmer Tae Hwan Park who was on Friday named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 15th Asian Games.
Park, who bagged three Gold, a Silver and three Bronze medals while setting up two new Asian Games record, received overwhelming vote from the media pushing other contenders far behind.
Park received 231 votes while Chineses Gymnast Wei Yang was a distant second with 99 votes.
Indian shooter Jaspal Rana, who equalled the world record while bagging three Gold, received 96 votes.
The Chinese duo of swimmers Jiaying Peng and 110m hurdler Xiang Liu got 85 and 32 votes respectively.
Park has returned home and could not be present for the ceremony as he was stranded at Changi Airport in Singapore due to bad weather.
