Taxmen raid Mumbai professionals

Just six days before the budget, the income tax authorities swooped down on professional service providers in Mumbai on Thursday.
Tax raids were also conducted in other parts of the country including Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Kanpur.
In Mumbai, raids were conducted on about 40 professionals, including doctors, interior decorators and architects. There were also reports of crack down on builders, stock brokers and real estate agents.
I-T officers said that more than 50 places in Mumbai were raided with over 300 officers taking part in the raid. This is said to be the biggest raid in the current financial year.
The recovery in the raids were not known till the time of writing this report. The raids would go on till late evening, I-T officers said.
On Wednesday, tax officials raided builders in Mira Road and Bhayandar in neighbouring Thane district.
