Trouble started on Wednesday afternoon after an altercation among supporters of the Trinamool and CPI-M in Golenaohati area.

Nurjamal Mian of the Trinamool was assaulted as the altercation turned into a clash.

Trinamool has alleged that some CPI-M supporters had attacked Nurjamal's elder brother Abdul Hamid with sharp weapons, who received serious injuries.

A complaint was lodged against forty CPI-M supporters in connection with the attack, after which three persons were arrested.
