Top LeT, Hizbul commanders held in J&K

Foiling their plan to attack some senior police officials in Rajouri town, police have arrested four terrorists, including top commanders of Lashker-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits and have seized explosive devices from their possession.

Based on some specific inputs that top commanders of LeT and Hizbul had deputed their activists to carry the plot, the police raided some places in the town and arrested three of them from ward no 2 of Rajouri town and another from Rajdhani area of Manjakote Tehsil in Rajouri district late on Monday night, they said.

The three arrested, who were staying in a rented accommodation in Rajouri town, have been identified as Amjad, Mohammad Javed and Gulzar - all originally belonging to Darhal area of the district, they said.

Another terrorist identified as Mohammad Mushtaq, who was apprehended from Rajdhani area, was the coordinator of LeT and Hizbul outfits, the sources said.

Police also recovered some grenades, explosive materials and one wireless set, besides cash of nearly Rs 1 lakh from them.

Preliminary questioning of the men revealed that they had to strike on top brass of police and civil administration in DC colony in Rajouri town, the sources said, adding further interrogation of the arrested was continuing.
