Get to know...Burrah
- Currently I am
Back in Mumbai after shooting the music video of my new track, West Delhi.
- High point in life
Being on Coke Studio in 2022 for Udja. Performing Main Sochi Jaavan, a song I worked on for five years, on MTV Hustle last year.
- Low point in life
2019. I quit my job, there were family troubles, and I had a relationship end. At one point, my account had zero balance. I cooped up in a room to write music and heal.
- On my playlist
Chaupai Sahib; Diarabi by Vieux Farka Tourè et Khruangbin; Kendrick Lamar’s Sing About Me; I’m Dying Of Thirst; Bajrang Baan; and Japji Sahib.
- One thing I would never buy
Fancy shoes. The ones I have are gifts. Or a watch. I prefer wearing my father’s watch.
- Last thing I ordered online
Palak khichri.
- App I check before bed
I maintain a gratitude journal on my WhatsApp and Notes app.
- Advice I’d give my 18-year-old self
Go be a mess. Don’t try to act right or be a certain way. And hit the gym.
- I’d swipe right on
Those that show love, reliability, and compassion.
- My secret skill is
I can read tarot cards. I’ll only do it for a few people.
- A superpower/magic tool I wish I had
To be able to cure people’s pain.
- My favourite Sunday memory
Watching The Jungle Book and Malgudi Days with my father and sister. Then heading to Bangla Sahib on a scooter to do seva. We’d eat chole bhature from Sita Ram on the way back.
- My plans for next Sunday
A small getaway to either the hills or Amritsar.
- My most star-struck moment
Watching Gurdas Mann perform. He was 70 years old then and I was still awestruck by his energy.
- My favourite bad habit
I consume too much sugar and Fanta when I’m having a good day.
- If I could travel back or forward in time…
I wouldn’t. I am happy where I am.
- The best thing about fame
You get to share your story with people, and you get to be honest and authentic to create a better impact.
- The worst thing about fame
The lack of privacy.
