Craving brownies but want a simpler treat? Dietitian Shweta J Panchal shares no-bake date bite recipe made with six ingredients to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Craving something sweet but want to skip a regular baked dessert? These brownie date bites could be a simple option to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Made with dates, peanut butter, oats, cocoa powder and dark chocolate, the bites have a naturally sweet, fudgy texture without requiring any baking. Dietitian Shweta J Panchal shared the recipe in an August 14 Instagram post, highlighting it as a simple homemade treat made with everyday ingredients. Ingredients

  • 200g dates
  • 1½ tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g dark chocolate
  • Sea salt, for sprinkling

How to make brownie date bites

1. Start by adding the dates, peanut butter, oats and cocoa powder to a blender or food processor. Blend until the ingredients combine into a sticky, dough-like mixture.

2. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form bite-sized balls. Keep them aside while preparing the chocolate coating.

3. Melt the dark chocolate until smooth. Dip or roll each date bite in the melted chocolate, ensuring it is evenly coated.

4. Place the chocolate-covered bites on a plate or tray and sprinkle a little sea salt over the top. Refrigerate until the chocolate coating sets completely.

5. Once firm, the brownie date bites are ready to enjoy.

A sweet treat, but portion size still matters

Dates provide natural sweetness and fibre, while peanut butter adds healthy fats. Oats can also contribute fibre, while cocoa powder and dark chocolate give the bites their rich brownie-like flavour.

However, being made with simple or minimally processed ingredients does not automatically make a food calorie-free. Dates, peanut butter and chocolate can still be energy-dense, so portion size is important.

These bites can be enjoyed as a small dessert or snack when you’re craving something chocolatey, while keeping portions in mind.
