Three major brands — Gokul, Warna and Krishna — are hiking milk prices from February 1. However, state cooperative Mahananda has not increased its rates.

The companies will charge Re 1 extra per litre for cow’s milk and Rs 2 extra for buffalo’s milk.

A Warna official said requesting anonymity that the companies have increased purchase prices in accordance with the farmers’ growing demands.

Dairy Development Minister Nitin Raut said the government will review the hike.
