Music director Shamir Tandon is on cloud nine, thanks to his association with the Commonwealth Games (CWG).

"I am composing the music for the pre show to promote the sports prior to the CWG. We are a cricket-friendly nation, but it’s important to generate awareness about other sports also," says Tandon.

Asked about the song’s lyrics, he replies, "It goes like Khel khel mein khele jaayein, khelon ka utsav manayein… We wanted the song to have the sentiment of winning and be high on energy.

The music is rock-ish. That’s what youngsters relate to and also it gives a certain aggression to the track."

The composer feels that having a singer like Shaan on board helped his cause. “He is a mix of modern aggression and mellow Indianisation. We needed a patriotic and sporty feeling simultaneously and Shaan fits both genres.”

Official Anthem?
Given that it’s a song for the CWG, doesn’t he feel having someone like CM Sheila Dixit associated with it would help promote it better? “Certainly, but it’s the producers’ call to pitch it to the authorities and make it an official anthem,” he says.
