Heat claims beggar's life

Third heat-related death in recent days was reported in Amritsar on Friday.

The victim, an unidentified beggar about 50, was found dead in the Shivalaya area. On Wednesday, rain had lowered the temperature significantly but harsh weather is back. The other two victims were also mendicants. Assistant sub-inspector Sushil Kumar of the A Division police station said efforts were on to identify all victims. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 35.4 degrees Celsius.
