Batinda SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, Jagga Singh, a resident of Burj Mansa in Bathinda, had complained of threatening calls.

The case was referred to the Maur police station and the police were expected to file reply by February 15.

Bhullar added that constable Pardeep Kumar posted as munshi at police station referred the complaint to constable Balbir Singh without completing the official formalities. However, Balbir too did not do any attempt to trace the identity of the caller and submitted a fake report to DSP Maur on February 14, seeking permission from SSP to get the call details of phone.

Constable Amarjeet Singh was responsible to ensure dispatch of this report to SSP office but he too did not perform his duty. When the DSP looked into the matter, the report was found to be in the police station.

"After an inquiry, all three constables have been suspended for dereliction of duty. I have also directed all officials to ensure that complaints received on helpline number 181 are deal with on priority."
