Renedy Singh was at the receiving end of an officiating error during India's recent 2-5 Asian Cup loss to Bahrain but for a refreshing change, India's home grown referees and linesmen got it spot on. Penn Orji's long-ranger took a ricochet and landed behind the goalline before going out but it couldn't escape the assistant referee's eyes, who promptly raised his flag to indicate that a goal had been scored.

East Bengal, thus, continued to win, beating HAL, but slowly it has started to bother coach Trevor James Morgan. For a star-laden team like East Bengal who have hogged the top slot since the I-League began, seven 1-0 scorelines in nine wins is a disconcerting trend.
