Spice of Life: From flights of fancy to dreams taking off

My desire to catch a flight someday found its ground when the once trailblazing invention by ‘Wright Brothers’ mentioned in our school textbook spiritedly tickled my fancies. Little did I know then that from flying a modest paper plane, I would, decades later, fly aboard a real plane!

To witness a far-flung plane, in full-flight, loom out of dense clouds and dip its nose was surreal as within minutes it pulled out its wheels, signalling touch-down any moment, writes UN Upadhaya

Fake documentation: Faridkot student faces deportation from Canada

Canadian authorities have issued their first removal order to a former international student from India in a case related to fake documentation. Karamjeet Kaur, based in Edmonton, received the order after exhausting her legal options. At least 30 other former students are facing removal proceedings, while another 130 cases are being investigated. The students arrived in Canada between 2017 and 2019 to study, but the Canadian Border Services Agency later concluded the letter of offer of admission to a Canadian higher education institution, which formed the basis of their study permits, was fake.

The majority of affected students were represented by the agent Brijesh Mishra of the Jalandhar-based counselling firm EMSA Education and Migration Services Australia. (REUTERS file photo)
