The lack of digital payment facilities in the state-owned buses, Punjab Roadways and PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), has become a hassle for the commuters and conductors alike.
Pepsu Road Transport Corp loses ₹15 lakh daily due to blocked highways amid farmers' protest on Punjab-Haryana border, impacting services to Delhi and Haryana.
The PRTC is learned to have sent reminders time and again to the government regarding the outstanding amount. As per information available, of the ₹ 4-crore dues, the government has so far paid only ₹ 28 lakh to the PRTC.
PRTC chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana said PRTC depots have fuel stock that can only last till Wednesday afternoon. As per the PRTC officials, around 80,000 litres of diesel is consumed daily by PRTC buses.
Confirming the development, PRTC chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana said the matter was already in the notice of the government, and a new MD was likely to be appointed in the coming days.
