‘Too humbled’: S M Krishna dedicates Padma Vibhushan to people of Karnataka

Veteran politician and former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, who has been conferred with the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the country, on Thursday said he will dedicate the award to the people of the state, who have nurtured him for six decades.

On Republic Day eve, govt says Mulayam Yadav, SM Krishna to get top Padma awards

Nineteen awardees were women, two were foreigners, non-resident Indians, people of Indian origin or overseas citizens of India, and seven laureates were honoured posthumously, said a statement by the Union home ministry.

Months before the assembly election in Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) senior leader and the state's former Chief Minister SM Krishna announced his retirement from active politics on Wednesday.
