Kashmiris say no to cinema halls

Locals in Jammu and Kashmir have rejected the state government's proposal to reopen cinema halls in the Valley. Union Renewable Energy minister, Farooq Abdullah, who is also the president of the state ruling National Conference party, had advocated reopening of cinema halls and liquor shops in the valley, so that tourists visiting the state have more options for entertainment. Cinema halls were shut in the state following militant attacks during the early days of militancy in 1990.
