Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary To Lam received a ceremonial welcome in New Zealand on Thursday, August 13, as he began his visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
Lam met New Zealand Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro in Auckland and participated in a traditional Māori pōwhiri welcoming ceremony. The cultural ceremony marked the formal reception for the Vietnamese leader and highlighted the close diplomatic engagement between Vietnam and New Zealand.
