Did Iran target Oracle data center in Dubai? Govt. fact checks claim after Bahrain Amazon attack
Dubai denied that Iran’s IRGC attacked Oracle’s data center. The claims spread after it was revealed that the IRGC targeted Amazon's data center in Dubai.
As tensions between the United States and Iran continue to simmer and a recent online reports claimed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had targeted a data center belonging to US tech giant Oracle in Dubai. However, the Dubai Government has firmly denied these claims.
Dubai government says it is fake news
The Dubai Government Media Office acted quickly to dismiss the claims, posting a statement on X. They said reports suggesting the IRGC had carried out or tried any attack in Dubai were “fake news” and had no basis in fact.

This isn’t the first time Dubai authorities have had to fight misinformation. Officials have often warned people not to spread unverified stories, especially during times of regional tension, and urged everyone to rely only on official government sources instead of social media rumors.

What Iran said
Iran's military central command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, announced on Thursday that it had launched a new wave of attacks targeting the UAE, Bahrain and Israel in response to US-Israeli strikes on the country's two largest steel plants. "In response to attacks on Iranian steel industries, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a new wave of attacks this morning," the command said in a statement carried by state TV.
Among the targets claimed were "American steel industries in Abu Dhabi, American aluminium industries in Bahrain, and the Rafael arms factories of the Zionist regime," the statement said.
Going further, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted an Amazon cloud computing centre in Bahrain in retaliation for attacks on Iran, according to a statement carried by state media. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that the attack on the Amazon building was part of the third phase of the 90th wave of Operation True Promise 4. Mehr news agency also confirmed the attack on the cloud computing center in Bahrain.
Bahrain's Interior Ministry had earlier said that civil defense teams were extinguishing a fire at a company facility following what authorities described as an Iranian attack, reported FT.
The attack on the Amazon building comes two days after Iran warned it will target American firms in the Gulf region which are not affiliated with the US military. Citing the use of artificial intelligence in warfare and espionage, the IRGC listed 18 companies in danger, including Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and more.
The Revolutionary Guards' navy command, also quoted by Tasnim news agency, claimed that data centers belonging to two major US technology firms had been hit, Oracle in Dubai and Amazon in Bahrain.
