Police have responded to Pompano Beach following reports of a shooting near the pier.
Police have responded to Pompano Beach following reports of a shooting near the pier. According to Broward Police Activity, shots were fired just south of the pier, near the playground.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
Several witnesses took to social media to report the shooting.
“There was a shooting in Pompano Beach. 100s of high school kids gathered. Anyone know what happened? Or is happening?” one person wrote on X.
Another witness wrote on Facebook, “Saw 5 shots fired near playground.”
Another witness reported, “I am out here on pompano beach enjoying lunch it’s a bunch of teenagers out here and they just started shooting nobody can leave.”
Another person wrote, “Hundreds of police at the pier! Apparent shooting! Riff raff everywhere! Kids riding bikes blocking traffic…daring people to honk or hit them! A silver Ferrari honked his horn at two kids blocking the road and 6 or 7 came up and started hitting his car! I hope there are many arrest! Pompano…if you allowed this gathering without a permit…shame on you…if they had a permit…don’t allow them back next year! Apparently same group wreaked havoc last year in Deerfield Beach!”
As of now, it remains unclear whether anyone was injured in the shooting.
