Rute, who is the mother of her two children with Diogo, had expressed her joy at their recent wedding. Following several years of dating, the couple had made the decision to formally commit to one another in a wedding that mirrored the stability and love they had attained.

What happened to Diogo Jota?

The collision happened early in the morning on the A-52 in Zamora, close to Palacios de Sanabria. When Diogo Jota and his brother André were driving, their car swerved off the road and caught fire. After multiple calls, emergency personnel arrived at the spot and discovered that both died instantly.

The two brothers were making their way to Portugal. André played for Peñafiel, a team in the Portuguese second division, while Diogo Jota was playing well for Liverpool and representing Portugal as an international. Despite having two distinct professions, they shared an unbreakable friendship.

A video that Rute shared on social media recently, which reminisced her wedding to the Liverpool football player, has surfaced amid the tragedy his family is going through. “A day we will never forget,” she remarked, adding never-before-seen photos from their wedding.

Several social media users have emphasized the message's premonitory nature and showered her account with supportive remarks. Rute's touching and heartfelt gesture has turned into the final testament to a love story that was cut off too soon.

Rute Cardoso, meanwhile, is still in Portugal with her closest friends and family, totally focused on shielding her three kids from what has happened. The location of the funeral has not yet been determined, but all indications point to Porto, according to family sources.
