Dhanush is a phenomenon in the Tamil film industry. And with his first Bollywood film, Raanjhanaa (2013), he became quit a star with the Hindi film audience, too.
It wasn’t really the conventional role that an already established star would’ve launched himself in Bollywood with, but the actor is known for all things unconventional. Be it looks or the roles. Take a look at his next, Shamitabh, in which he stars alongside actor Amitabh Bachchan. “I look for a strong script. I believe that a strong script can make or destroy a star. So, I look for a meaty script and then I give it my all,” he says, adding that was for this reason that he chose to do Shamitabh.
“The concept of the film is brilliant. The story is strong and fresh. R Balki (filmmaker) had a new story to tell... These days, one can’t say that the story is new because most of the stories have already been told. But Shamitabh’s plot is different,” says Dhanush.
And he assures to impress everyone with his unconventional role in the upcoming film. “I play the role of an aspiring actor who eventually becomes one. Then there is Amitji, who gives this character his voice. Now, why and how this happens is what the rest of the script is about. When these two talents come together, ego-clashes happen,” says Dhanush.
And humility being one of his qualities, this National Award-winning actor still calls himself an 'aspiring actor' in real life.
“There’s so much to learn still. Everytime you become complacent, God gives you one tight slap. I hope this learning never stops.”
Presented by Eros International, produced by RK Damani, Sunil Lulla, Rakesh Jhunjhuwaala, Gauri Shinde and Abhishek Bachchan, Shamitabh starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan is scheduled to release on February 6, 2015.
