Acid attack threat: Man gets 3-year jail

Presiding over a special court for crime against women, additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla awarded three-year jail to a Sector-32 youth for harassing his neighbour and threatening her of disfiguring her face with acid.

Presiding over a special court for crime against women, additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla awarded three-year jail to a Sector-32 youth for harassing his neighbour and threatening her of disfiguring her face with acid. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,100 on convict, Chandan, 21, a resident of Sector 32.

UT police on March 18, 2013, had arrested Chandan on complaint of his neighbour, who accused him of harassing her and threatening her of acid attack for declining his proposal of sexual advances and marriage.

The complainant had submitted that Chandan was his classmate. She alleged that Chandan had been harassing her over phone calls and messages seeking sexual favours for more than two years. The victim claimed that she had been ignoring all his advances, but on March 15 Chandan threatened her of disfiguring her face with acid that forced her to approach the police.
