Sonepat cop jumps off police station roof to evade anti-corruption bureau raid
ACB team first caught the tea stall owner, identified as Rakesh, red-handed while allegedly accepting ₹8,000 in bribe money. During questioning, it emerged that the money was allegedly being collected at the behest of the SI
A sub-inspector (SI) posted at Kharkhoda police station in Sonepat district allegedly jumped from the roof of the police station and sustained injuries while trying to evade an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raid on Thursday night.

The officer, identified as Hariprakash, was allegedly accepting a bribe through a tea stall owner operating opposite the police station.
ACB DSP Rahul Dev said the incident took place on Thursday night, when the ACB team first caught the tea stall owner, identified as Rakesh, red-handed while allegedly accepting ₹8,000 in bribe money. During questioning, it emerged that the money was allegedly being collected at the behest of the SI.
According to the complaint, the case was linked to an alleged molestation of a woman whose case was registered at Kharkhoda police station. A resident of Sisana village alleged that his brother was facing action in connection with the complaint and that SI Hariprakash had demanded ₹20,000 to facilitate a compromise and to prevent him from being implicated in what the complainant described as a false case.
The alleged bribe amount was subsequently negotiated down to ₹8,000. Unwilling to pay the money, the complainant approached the ACB.
After verifying the complaint and recording the relevant conversation, the ACB laid a trap. The complainant was given the amount and asked to hand it over at the tea stall opposite the police station. As soon as he handed the cash to Rakesh, the ACB team arrested him along with the alleged bribe money.
On learning about the arrest and the ACB action, SI Hariprakash allegedly went to the upper floor of the police station. Fearing arrest, he allegedly jumped from the roof, sustaining injuries in both legs. He was taken to the civil hospital in Kharkhoda, where he is undergoing treatment.
The ACB officials said that they have arrested both Rakesh and SI Hariprakash and registered a case against them.
