But when it came down to the crunch, the contest boiled down to a simple question of who handled their nerves better, and on this occasion, the Proteas edged that battle. In an otherwise evenly matched game, that alone proved to be the difference. That said, it doesn't take away from the serious need for introspection over South Africa's underwhelming display with the ball today. They struggled to create any real inroads through the innings, and dare we say it, the bowling unit looked distinctly brittle.
