NAM vs SA Ball by Ball Commentary

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! An appeal for caught behind, and it's been given by the umpire. Nqobani Mokoena ends with a wicket, and South Africa win by 11 runs. Mokoena pitches the ball up around the fifth stump line. Ruben Trumpelmann gets across to shovel it leg side but gets an outside edge through to the keeper. Connor Esterhuizen makes no mistake with the gloves on and Namibia finish with 217/3, a valiant effort in the chase.

WIDE! Length ball, pitching it a long way outside the line of off stump. Left alone for a wide.

Very full, at the toes, jammed out wide of square leg for a single. That should be that.

A comedy of errors in the field from the Proteas. Full again around off, Ruben Trumpelmann drives it to long off and the batters push for two again. The fielder mops it up quickly and fires in a throw at the correct end, but the keeper misses the flick onto the stumps from a couple of yards out. The ball then rolls down to deep third and Erasmus sets off for the third run. Trumpelmann is struggling but this time, the bowler fails to collect the throw and in the end, Namibia get three runs.

Excellent again from the bowler, not conceding any boundaries. This is pitched fuller and well outside off, Trumpelmann leans across and drives it without much timing through extra cover, picking up a couple of runs.

Mokoena nails the wide yorker this time, and the batters again hustle back for two, which simply isn't enough at the moment. Full and wide outside off, driven wide of sweeper cover for a brace. 19 needed off 4 balls.

WIDE! Full and wide outside off, Mokoena tries to keep it out of the hitting arc but spills it beyond the tramline.

A low full toss at the stumps, Trumpelmann toe-ends it down to long on and the batters do well to scamper back for the second run. 22 needed off 5 balls.

Full and around off,  Trumpelmann backs away early but can't get under it and hits it down to long off for a single.

FOUR! A slice of luck for Trumpelmann and Namibia here. 25 needed now off 7 balls. Maphaka jams in a yorker around the leg stump line. Trumpelmann makes a bit of room leg side and gets an inside edge that runs down to fine leg for a boundary.

SIX! Trumpelmann keeps Namibia in the fight, and the 200 comes up as well for Namibia. Slightly shorter, a bit slower too and angled into the batter. Trumpelmann just swings for the fences and gets enough on the pull to clear the man at deep square leg.

Another full ball, this time outside off. Erasmus jams it out to cover for just a single.

Half a shout for caught behind, but this might have clipped the pad. Gerhard Erasmus certainly isn't happy and feels that a wide should have been given. Full and at the pads, just slanting down leg. Erasmus looks to flick but misses.

Yorker length, darted in from around the stumps and at the pads. Trumpelmann misses the flick and the ball thuds off the pads behind point. They get a leg bye.

Full again, outside off, smashed down to long off for just a single by Ruben Trumpelmann.

OUT! CAUGHT! Sounded sweet off the bat by JJ Smit, but it wasn't long enough. Nqobani Mokoena keeps it full and wide outside the off stump, asking the batter to hit to the bigger off side fence. Smit leans across and hammers it flat but straight towards Dewald Brevis at deep cover-point. Brevis makes no mistake and Namibia lose a wicket at an inopportune time.

Very full and outside off, Erasmus moves across early and mistimes the slog to long on, picking up a single.

DROPPED AND FOUR! A tough, tough chance and it is spilled by the fielder. Good length on middle, slightly pace off. Gerhard Erasmus goes across for the whippy shot again but gets a top edge down to fine leg. The fielder at short fine leg runs back and tries to take it awkwardly with the reverse cup. The ball hits the hands hard and rolls into the fence.

That's excellent running. A wide yorker from Mokoena, Erasmus digs it out through mid off and races back for the second run before the throw from the long off fielder comes in towards the keeper.

SIX! Probably the shot of the day. Pitched full and outside off, Gerhard Erasmus lunges across to the off side and whips it away across the line and miles over the square leg fence. 45 needed now off 17 balls.

Peter drags the length back, bowling it outside off. Erasmus slaps it to sweeper cover for just a single.

Fired in, a bit short and into the pads. Erasmus gets cramped for room as he tries to swivel and pull but fails to get it away.

Fractionally short on leg, pulled away without any real timing towards deep square leg for one.

SIX! That's a clean strike, and that's why JJ Smit has been sent in now. Tossed up at the stumps, Smit just hits through the line and dispatches it back over the sightscreen for a biggie.

Fuller one around off, driven away through extra cover and the batters pick up a couple of runs.

Flatter and into the pitch, darted in towards leg. Erasmus backs away and jams it through mid-wicket for one.

That's top-notch fielding from Andile Simelane. Slower one outside off, Gerhard Erasmus lunges across and flat-bats it back past the non-striker. Simelane at long on, springs himself to his left and cuts it off. Just a single then.

Perfection from Bosch this time around. He nails the wide yorker, right on the popping crease and just inside the wide guideline as well. Erasmus fails to squeeze it away.

WIDE! Bosch just doesn't seem comfortable bowling that line. Full and wide, sprayed beyond the tramline outside off and Erasmus lets it go.

A suprise bumper, over off stump. Steenkamp gets inside the line and misses the pull. The ball goes off his shoulders to the off side for a leg bye.

FOUR! Not where Steenkamp intended it to go, but he won't mind the end result. Hard length, flirting with the tramline again. Steenkamp throws his hands at it and slices it over short third for a boundary.

WIDE! Full-pitched delivery, landing it beyond the tramline outside off. Steenkamp reaches out to cover drive but misses.

Steenkamp will feel he should have put it away. A full and wide one, angling back in. Steenkamp looks to hammer it over extra cover but fails to lay a bat on it.

WIDE! Dug in a bit short, slower too, but pushed well beyond the tramline outside off.

Hit sweetly but straight to the fielder in the deep. Full and wide, ends up being a low full toss. Erasmus reaches out, goes on one knee and smacks it to deep point for one.

A full, tossed-up delivery outside off stump. Erasmus drives it firmly down the ground, and Peter gets a hand out to take the sting off it, restricting the batters to just a single towards the right of long off.

A good length ball fired in just outside leg stump. Erasmus hangs back, looking to pull it across the line, but is beaten on the inside edge as the keeper collects cleanly. Connor Esterhuizen whips off the bails in a flash and goes up for the stumping, only for the umpire to signal that it can't be reviewed, with no replays available.

FOUR BYES! That beats everyone. Not much the keeper could do about that, honestly. These are precious runs for Namibia. An inviting, tossed-up delivery around the fourth stump line. It lands, grips and spins away sharply. Erasmus goes hard on the drive, but is beaten comprehensively on the outside edge, and even the keeper can't lay a glove on it as the ball races away to the deep third fence.

A low full toss on leg stump that dips late on the batter. Steenkamp clears his front leg and slogs it away to the left of deep midwicket, good enough for just the one.

Darted in on a length, on off, Louren Steenkamp hangs back and punches it back to the bowler.

EDGED AND FOUR! Fortuitous runs. That also brings up the 150 for Namibia. Spins away from off, on a fuller length. Louren Steenkamp goes for a full-blooded cover drive, but gets a fat outside edge and the ball just shoots through to the deep third fence for a four.

Full once again, outside off, Gerhard Erasmus smashes it to the left of deep backward point and they hustle back for the second run quickly before the throw arrives to the keeper. Good piece of running between the wickets.

WIDE! Another one that is spilled far outside off, full in length, in an attempt to stay out of the hitting arc. Erasmus swings and misses.

Oh, what happened there? Drifts wide outside off, on a good length. Steenkamp tries to reach out to play the square cut, but misses and the keeper fumbles it too, and the batters sneak through for a bye. Brevis swoops onto the ball from backward point, and goes for a direct hit at the non-striker's end, but instead ends up striking Steenkamp who looks to be in pain.

DROPPED! Tony de Zorzi is the guilty party who shells an important chance. Full toss on leg stump, Erasmus shuffles across to clip it towards the right of substitute fielder de Zorzi at deep backward square leg, who spills what was a fairly straightforward chance. One run taken. That should have been taken by all standards. Could be a huge let-off, this one.

WIDE! Sprays it beyond the tramline, Louren Steenkamp chases the wide ball by swinging his bat hard, only to miss. Wide called.

SIX! Just sails over the ropes. And that's FIFTY for Louren Steenkamp, off just 37 balls. Full in length, on middle, Louren Steenkamp pumps it effortlessly over long on. But just for a millisecond, Andile Simelane looked to be in a chance to pluck that, but the ball just soars over him. This is Steenkamp's third T20I half century, but he knows the job is far from done and will be aiming to bat till the end.

Excellent keeping from Connor Esterhuizen! Wide yorker by Maphaka, outside off. Gerhard Erasmus tries to squeeze it out but the ball dips below his bat and shoots low to the right of the keeper. Connor Esterhuizen flings himself and makes a good stop.

A fullish delivery angled onto off stump, with the pace taken off it. Steenkamp is completely deceived by the change of pace and almost lobs it straight back to Maphaka. It eventually lands just to the bowler's left, agonisingly close.

OUT! CAUGHT BRILLIANTLY! Simelane finally breaks through for the Proteas, though the real story is out in the deep, where substitute fielder Tony de Zorzi produces a stunning piece of work. It needed a moment of real quality in the field to finally give South Africa their breakthrough. Frylinck goes for the pull shot off a shortish ball, outside off, the kind he usually times well, but this time the contact lets him down, coming off the inside half without any real elevation. Tony de Zorzi reads the trajectory early at deep square leg, and sensing his momentum carrying him towards the rope, he throws the ball up into the air, steadies himself back inside the boundary, and completes a smart, composed catch. Namibia are 119/1, needing 110 runs from 55 balls.

A short ball at a gentle pace, on middle, Steenkamp swivels and pulls it to deep backward square leg for a single.

Outside off, on a good length, Frylinck drives it on the rise to deep point for a single.

SIX! Over the roof! One of the biggest of the lot. Short at the shoulder height of the batter. No real pace on the ball and Jan Frylinck picks the length in a trice and pulls it massively over the deep fine leg fence for an enormous six.

Length ball, outside off, steered off the back foot to the right of Tony de Zorzi, who fumbles and allows a single.

Short and wide outside off, cut away but Frylinck can't get it past the point fielder. Namibia are 110/0 after 10, needing 119 more in the remaining 10 overs.

That's well bowled. Slower delivery, back of a length and outside off. It is the off-cutter that grips and then beats the inside edge of Steenkamp's blade.

The foundation has been laid as the Namibian openers bring up the 100-run stand. Shorter this time, on leg, and this is pulled down to fine leg for a single.

FOUR! That's all class from Frylinck. Full of a length and outside off, Jan Frylinck walks across a bit and opens the bat face, gliding it to the right of the diving fielder at backward point for a boundary.

Slightly back of a length, straighter too. Steenkamp tucks it off the hips to deep mid-wicket and rotates strike.

WIDE! Another slower one, on a good length and angled into the batter, but this one drifts down leg.

SIX! That's a massive hit, and Jan Frylinck brings up back-to-back FIFTIES against South Africa. Tossed up, full on off and middle, Frylinck just leans on and whacks it straight back over the bowler's head for a biggie. This is Frylinck's 5th T20I half-century, with two of them coming in this series.

Good work in the deep. Quick and a tad bit short, Steenkamp rocks back and latches onto it, slogging it to the left of deep backward square leg. The fielder slides across and keeps it down to two runs.

Oh, that's untidy in the field, especially from someone like Dewald Brevis. Hard length around off, Frylinck looks to drop and run, nudging it to the left of backward point. Brevis gets around and lets it through the hands, conceding the extra run as well.

Pitched fuller now, Steenkamp pushes it towards extra cover for a quick single.

SIX! The Namibian openers are fighting fire with fire. Short of a length and outside off, Steenkamp hangs back and uppercuts it up and over to the right of deep third for a biggie.

WIDE! A skiddy, length ball, drifted down the leg side for a wide.

SIX! Oh, just over! A strong Powerplay for Namibia as they are 67/0 after 6 overs. Length ball on the pads, Jan Frylinck picks it up and flicks it aerially towards deep square leg. Dewald Brevis leaps up high and barely gets a finger or two on it, as the ball lands over the ropes.

SIX! A nothing delivery, really and Frylinck helps himself to six runs. Dug in short but there's no bite on it. Frylinck swivels inside the line and swings it over fine leg for a biggie.

A bit shorter around off, Steenkamp hangs back and fends it to mid on for a single.

Never a single there, and a direct hit might have been really close. Back of a length, in and around off. Steenkamp dabs it into the off side and the batters think about the single. The bowler is onto it in a flash and Frylinck scampers back as Simelane fires the throw wide at the non-striker's end.

FOUR! Hit straight and hard, and up comes the 50 for Namibia. Fuller than a length ball, angled into off and middle. Jan Frylinck smacks it back past the non-striker and to the right of mid on for a boundary.

Half a chance for Mokoena. But these either stick or they just don't. Slightly fuller on off, Jan Frylinck hammers it straight back at the bowler, to his left. Nqobani Mokoena gets both his hands low to his left but the ball just bursts through his palms and rolls behind to mid on for a single.

Angles it across the batter, on a good length. Frylinck stands deep in the crease and stabs it back at the bowler.

Serves it full on the stumps, Steenkamp pushes it to mid on and sets off for a single. Fortuin dives to pick and release the underarm throw but cannot collect the ball and it seeps behind for a single.

FOUR! And again! Even more convincing this time. Same line and length, full on middle and off. Frylinck gets low on his back knee and slog sweeps it firmly to beat deep square leg to his left for another boundary.

FOUR! This is good batting from Frylinck. Pitched full on the leg stump. Jan picks it up nicely and whips it over backward square leg for a boundary.

Full and tossed on middle and leg, Steenkamp chips it intentionally over the bowler's head and they scamper across for a single.

FOUR! Expertly played by Louren. And this actually a very bright start for Namibia in the run chase. Pitched full by Kwena, on the pads. Louren Steenkamp uses his wrists and flicks it across, perfectly bisecting mid on and mid-wicket for a boundary.

A short rib-tickler, going down leg, Steenkamp swivels to pull but misses.

FOUR! Gorgeous stroke! Short and around the off stump. Louren Steenkamp opens the bat face and steers it marvelously behind backward point for a boundary.

A direct hit could surely have sent Steenkamp packing. Back of a length, around off, Louren hangs back and punches it to short cover. There is a bit of a yes and no between the batters before they set off for a single. Seeing that, Kwena tears across on his follow-through, picks the ball up and has a shy at the bowling end, but misses.

FOUR! Loose from Maphaka and he pays the price for it. Fires it down the leg stump, on a fractionally fuller length. Jan tickles it off the inner half of the bat and it rifles through to the deep fine leg fence.

Good length, nipping away slightly, Steenkamp gets a bit squared up and punches it into covers.

SIX! Stand and deliver! A juicy half-volley by Bosch, outside off, Steenkamp fluently launches it over the long on fence and dumps it out of the park. That just sprang off his blade.

WIDE! Bangs it short, but the line is all wrong, going far down leg. Let through by Steenkamp. Esterhuizen collects it to his left behind the stumps.

Beaten! That's a ripper from Kwena. Sharp short ball that straightens up the pitch with extra bounce, on off. Frylinck is squared up on the defence and gets beaten on the outside edge by a kitten-whisker.
