Car thief held after shootout

A vehicle thief was arrested following a brief shootout in Saket in South Delhi on Tuesday. Police said 30-year-old Khushmeet Rao Gharo was wanted in several cases of auto lifting in the Capital.

“In order to stop the car in which the accused was travelling the police had put up barricades. The accused banged his car into the barricade in an effort to flee. He then came out of the car and fired at the police party. In retaliation the police team also fired a single round and then managed to overpower the accused,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police HGS Dhaliwal.

Police have recovered one country made pistol along with cartridge, one Pajero car, one Santro car, 300 duplicate keys and other things from him.
