Court issues production warrant against Abu Salem

A Delhi court, on Monday, issued production warrant against extradited gangster Abu Salem after Mumbai police failed to produce him before the court, in a case of alleged extortion case, registered in 1998.

“Issue production warrant against the accused for April 13,” Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Bansal said.

Earlier, the court had granted bail to co-accused Romesh Sharma, an alleged front man of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, in the case.

Sharma is accused of providing details of Delhi-based businessmen to Salem, who, in turn, used to make threat calls to them for demanding protection money.

Salem was extradited from Portugal to face trial in various cases including the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
