Five youth, out on a Sunday bathing trip in the Yamuna, drowned in outer Delhi's Burari area, police said.

"The incident was reported around 5 pm and the victims have been identified as Golu, 21, Gurmeet, 21, Govind, 20, Banke, 18 and Vishnu, 16. All five of them were residents of the Swaroop Nagar area," said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

"The families of the victims have been intimated about the incident," the officer added.
