Help held for killing maid, robbing her employer

A 24-year-old domestic help from Nepal has been arrested by the west Delhi police for allegedly killing a maid, with whom he was in a relationship, and also stealing valuables from her employer's house.

A 24-year-old domestic help from Nepal has been arrested by the west Delhi police for allegedly killing a maid, with whom he was in a relationship, and also stealing valuables from her employer's house.

The body of the victim, identified as Jyoti, was found at her employer's house in Vikaspuri, said police. The arrested domestic help has been identified as Roshan alias Dhani. Police also recovered stolen articles from his possession.

V Renganathan, additional CP (west), said, the arrest came following investigation into a robbery and murder case registered at the Vikaspuri police station on December 10. On the day of incident, Renganathan said, the six-year-old son of the employer found Jyoti lying unconscious on the bed and informed his parents about it.

“Jyoti was found strangled with a 'chunni' that was tied around her neck. Goods were scattered in the room and valuables were missing. The stolen articles include gold, diamond ring,earrings, one gold chain, branded watches and mobile phones,” said Renganathan.

During investigation, Renganathan said, people who were in contact with Jyoti were interrogated and her mobile phone calls were examined. “We finally zeroed in on Roshan and he was apprehended. During interrogation he confessed to the crime and at his instance we recovered the stolen items,”he added.
