Police said the victim, Harendra Singh, runs a small beauty parlour with his girlfriend. A local resident has been held.

“On April 15, a few locals — one identified as Kunal — passed lewd comments while Singh and his girlfriend were on their way home after closing their shop around 10pm,” said a senior police officer.

When he objected to this, Singh told police, the group of boys surrounded him and were about to bash him when senior citizens from the area intervened and stopped the altercation and Singh was allowed to leave.

Three days later, they returned and attacked Singh on his face.
