To be constructed by the irrigation and flood control department at a cost of Rs.411 lakh, the bridge will be 36 metres long and 9 metres wide.
A formal function attended by a large number of residents and representatives of RWAs of the nearby colonies was also organized and MP Sandeep Dikshit was the chief guest. Chairperson, Trans-Yamuna Development Board, Narendra Nath was also present.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Walia expressed hope that with the widening of the bridge, thousands of commuters passing through the busy East Delhi area would be rid of perpetual traffic jams.
It will be a boon to the residents of hundreds of thickly populated colonies, providing much needed relief in terms of time and energy. He hoped that the work would be completed within this year.
