‘Ramanujan’s essay should be reinstated’

A resolution, passed unanimously by the history department council, has demanded that the V-C reconsider the Academic Council's decision to remove AK Ramanujan’s essay, 300 Ramayanas from the undergraduate syllabus. It has also asked him to reinstate the essay.

A resolution, passed unanimously by the history department council, has demanded that the V-C reconsider the Academic Council's decision to remove AK Ramanujan’s essay, 300 Ramayanas from the undergraduate syllabus. It has also asked him to reinstate the essay.

The resolution also states that the department is ready to contest the decision on academic grounds and states that the council took the decision under pressure from intolerant forces.

Professors have also called a meeting to discuss the issue on Friday.
