Gautam Raghuvanshi of Kanpur has topped the UP Board high school (class 10) examination 2019, while Tanu Tomar of Bagapat notched the first position in the Intermediate examination (class 12), the results of which were declared at Paryagraj on Saturday.

This year the pass percentage of UP Board high school examinees increased while that of intermediate declined a little. The overall pass percentage for high school was 80.07%, an increase by 4.91% over last year’s 75.16%. The pass percentage for intermediate exams was 70.06%, a decline of 2.37% against last year’s 72.43%.

In High school, Gautam Raghuvanshi, a student of Onkareshwar SVN Inter College, Jawhahar Nagar, Kanpur, scored 583 out of 600 (97.17%) to notch first position while Shivam, a student of Sr Sai Inter College, Barabanki scored 582 out of 600 (97%) to bag the second place. Tanuja Vishwakarma of Maharani Laxmibai Memorial Inter College, Barabanki, secured third position. She scored 581 out of 600 (96.83%).

In intermediate, the first three rank holders were girls. Tanu Tomar of Shri Ram Inter College, Bagapat notched 489 out of 500 (97.80%) to secure first rank. Bhagya Shree Upadhyay of Pt Raja Ram Upadhyay Inter College Gonda secured second rank with 476 out 500 (95.20%) while Akanksha Shukla of SP Inter College, Prayagraj got third rank with 474 out of 500 (94.80%).

Once again girls outperformed boys in UP Board bigh school and intermediate examination. In high school the pass percentage of girls is 83.98% while that of boys remained at 76.66%. In the same manner, in intermediate too, girls registered pass pecentage of 76.46%, whereas boys pass percentage remained at 64.40%, an official addressing the media said on Saturday.
