Ramayana teaser highlights: Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama glimpse gets mixed reactions from fans, praise from industry

The teaser has received love from fans abroad, with many praising the visuals. One wrote on Instagram, “Not gonna lie, this does look really good.”

Speaking at the teaser launch of Ramayana in Mumbai, director Nitesh Tiwari got visibly emotional and said, “Iss moment tak pahuchne me mujhe saat saal lage hain (It has taken me seven years to reach this moment). Filmmaking is a very speculative and lonely process. Every moment in these seven years, I have imagined this moment and wondered what the reaction (of the audience) would be. Aaj aap logon ka reaction dekh kar mujhe lag raha hai (Judging by your reactions, I feel) those seven years were worth it.”

Amid mixed reactions to the Ramayana teaser, one fan tweeted a GIF of Ranbir Kapoor's appearance in the video and wrote, “Just wait, it'll slowly win people over.”

At the teaser launch, producer Namit Malhotra revealed that 10,000 people were involved in the making of the grand film, and extended his gratitude to all of them.

A review of the teaser on Twitter read, “The 4000 cr remake of Ramayana. Its a very difficult movie to make, given how close is this to Indians & our values & ethos. But it does seem grand. Music also is captivating. Just that it feels this happened in Central Europe. India coding is missing.”

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta shared a tweet on Thursday afternoon that many think is about the teaser. “KHODA PAHAAD... NIKLA CHUHA (much ado about nothing),” he wrote in a tweet.

“More money spent on this than Avatar and the worlds just looks disappointing,” read a comment.

“Nah, that face of his is not made for such a serene role. It is what it is; that flirty look and that face are just not it. Rama had a face of peace and divine, but this is just not giving it,” said a person on Instagram.

Earlier this week, Ranbir, along with the film's team, launched a crucial asset of the film at an event in Los Angeles. During the event, the actor spoke about playing the role of Lord Ram and what the character means to people.

Describing Lord Ram as the "conscience keeper of billions of people," Ranbir said, "Lord Ram has been the conscience keeper of billions of people around the globe for centuries. He enlightens us about the triumph of the human spirit. He stands for compassion, courage, righteousness, and forgiveness, and is called Maryada Purushottam, which represents the ideal man."
