Malaika Arora is proof that jeans and a white T-shirt is never basic
Sometimes sex appeal is all in the details. Case in point: Malaika Arora’s latest white tee and flared blue jeans look. Her casual tee is not cropped, nor is it sheer. But we’re really into its fresh neckline. Read on if you wish to copy Malaika’s versatile style.fashion and trends Updated: Jun 16, 2018 14:58 IST
Has Malaika Arora ever taken a sartorial step wrong? Probably not. The former VJ has an ability to rock an itsy-bitsy polka-dot shorts from TopShop, a gargantuan Manish Malhotra couture gown and simple gym workout clothes, all with the same nonchalant ease.
Malaika’s latest street-cool look spotted outside a Mumbai salon on Friday has us lusting over her wardrobe more than ever. It’s weekend casual done oh-so-well. The trick with how Malaika gets it just right is all in the detail.
Here’s the photo evidence.
First, the close-up:
Second, the full look:
Look to the cut of Malaika’s box-fresh white T-shirt. The sleeves are capped and the neckline keyhole brings an added air of refinement, while taking this tee from casual to tantalizing.
With a jaunty turn up, Malaika’s flared blue jeans provide a knowing sense of style. The front-button denims came with a raw-edge hem. In contrast with her immaculate T-shirt and jeans combo, her well-worn black wedge slippers make sure it doesn’t feel contrived but more like, “Oh me? I just threw this on.”
That all being said, you just can’t ignore the hero of this look: Malaika’s salon-fresh hair. The cotton canvas and calfskin tote bag ($ 955 or Rs 65,388) from Balenciaga is cute too.
Jeans and a white T-shirt have become staples in every girl’s closet. But if you wish to add a dose of style to the classic, take a tip from actor Deepika Padukone, who’s always on the go, and tie up your tee to reveal your high-waisted denim. Make a sporty look slightly more edgy-meets-sophisticated by finishing your slogan tee with oversize dark sunglasses, à la Deepika.
