Twinkle Khanna, fashionista and former actor, talks about her style.

It was only after crossing 30 that Twinkle Khanna, former actor, now interior designer, wife of Akshay Kumar — one of the country’s biggest stars — learned how to walk in heels. “I developed a sense of style very late in life,” says Khanna in an interview to the November issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine.“Suddenly, I grew up and everything fell into place,” she adds. Her sense of style is often described as elegant, but she says that it is not quite as effortless as it appears. Like any working, multi-tasking mother who’s hard-pressed for time, she usually does her hair and makeup at her dressing table, “while doing five other things”, she informs.

Besides the obvious influence of her mother, superstar Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle's sartorial sense has been affected by her profession as an interior designer. “The principles of design are the same everywhere: proportion and balance and I guess this seeps into the way I dress. I am comfortable with who I am and maybe this is reflected in my style. I don't get stressed about being a particular size or weight,” says Twinkle.
