Assam Assembly session summoned on Monday

Assam Governor Lt Gen(Retd) Ajoy Singh has summoned the Assam Legislative Assembly to meet at its Chamber in Guwahati on Monday.

Official sources said the Governor has also appointed MLA Govinda Chandra Langthasa as the Protem Speaker to conduct the first meeting of the Assembly on the said date.

The newly elected members of the Assembly will take their oath of affirmation before Mr Langthasa in the session, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is expected to distribute portfolios to the new Cabinet colleagues on next Monday.

An eighteen-member, two-tier Congress led coalition ministry headed by Tarun Gogoi took oath of office and secrecy on Friday.
