Meanwhile, supporters of Setia launched celebrations after the BJP announced her candidature from Sirsa assembly segment on Tuesday night.

The BJP has given a chance to newcomers such as Sunita Setia, who left the Congress last month, and Jagdish Nehra, who also quit the Congress recently. Supporters of Setia and Nehra distributed sweets and burst crackers.

Setia said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah, state president Ram Bilas Sharma and BJP leader Ganeshi Lal have shown faith in her and she will not disappoint them.

The BJP will provide a home and a shop to every poor and slum dweller, she said. "Sirsa's development is only my dream and I will definitely make Sirsa an ideal city," Setia added.
