Bus knocks five-year-old boy dead in Hyderabad

A five-year-old boy was killed on the spot after being hit by a school bus at Nagole area in Hyderabad on Wednesday, police said.

A five-year-old boy was killed on the spot after being hit by a school bus at Nagole area in Hyderabad on Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred at about 4 pm, when the boy, a first standard student of a private school, got down from the bus and was crossing the road to reach his home at Nuvalbanda locality (under Nagole area) when the school bus hit him resulting in severe head injuries and instant death, they said.

"It seems the school bus hit the boy when he was crossing the road soon after getting down from the bus. The bus driver may not have been aware that the boy had got down from the bus and started the bus,” a senior police officer said.

The driver has been picked up and further investigations were underway, the police officer said. L B Nagar Police have registered a case.
