Everybody likes to shake a leg to Bollywood music and most of us like to ogle at posters of movie stars. So when TV personality Ruby Bhatia launched the Filmi Masala bar at DT Mall Gurgaon, naturally, Bollywood music ruled the roost.
“Bollywood bowls everybody over,” announced Ruby as she hit the dance floor and goaded other guests to shake a leg or two. She even managed to get the host of the evening V N Dalmia on the floor.

“With a name like Filmi Masala and a Bollywood theme, we definitely couldn’t play any other music, could we?” asks Dalmia, chairman of D&A Hospitality, the firm behind the new eating joint.

The Bollywood theme that captures the fun and flavour of Indian cinema with a dash of humor is not its only specialty; the restaurant makes sure all its authentic Indian food is cooked in olive oil. “Olive oil is healthy. It’s just unbelievable how good Indian food tastes when it’s cooked in olive oil,” says Dalmia. The bar launch also coincided with the telecast of Tamanna House, Ruby’s new serial on Zee. “Jas Arora and I had a ball doing the serial,” she says.

When Dalmia hit upon the idea of opening a restaurant, he thought of two options. “We are all crazy about cricket or Bollywood. As an investor I was looking to invest in something that would appeal to all. Bollywood fits the bill perfectly,” says the entrepreneur, involved hands-on in the project.

“I really like the feel of the place,” says Stefano Pelle, Managing Director of Perfetti India. “I am totally at home with Bollywood since I have been in India for six years. I enjoy the movies and quite like the music,” he adds.

The restaurant serves only Indian food. Also spotted: Theatre personality Bubbles Sabharwal, Italian Trade Commissioner, Guglielmo Galli, Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi range) Maxwell Pereira and nutritionist Shikha Sharma.
