According to the police, the decomposed body of Monu Kumar was found in a steel box inside a house in Rajiv Colony on Tuesday night after its owner informed about foul smell emanating from the tenant's room.

The victim, who was employed with a private firm here, was living with his would-be wife's family, a senior police official said, adding that the three accused — Kumar's fiancé Meenu, her mother Raj Bala and brother Jaggi — are suspected to have killed him. They were arrested from Muzaffarnagar district on Wednesday.

"The victim lived with his to-be in-laws at the rented house and had a heated exchange with them as his fiancé wanted to work night shift at a private hospital against his will. After the incident, his body was found bundled inside a steel box," assistant superintendent of police Amit Verma said.
