The Gadaffi Stadium, formerly known as the Lahore stadium, is now one of the most delightful grounds in world cricket since its facelift for the World Cup of 1996, when it hosted the Final.
It has been modelled on the Mughal style of architecture with red brickwork and arches adorning the ground. The benches of old
have been replaced by plastic seats and the stadium is now completely covered.
This was the first stadium in Pakistan to be equipped with modern flood-lights which have their own standby power generators.
Modern facilities for the media have been provided.
No other cricket ground in the world matches the spaciousness of the playing area of Gaddafi Stadium - it has the largest green field.
The pitch is normally slow, helpful to spinners and occasionally green enough for seamers to enjoy it.
