BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Goel on Thursday said he has filed a complaint with the Election Commission over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Rs 6,000 crore investment package for Assam, calling it an attempt to woo voters ahead of the state elections.

"If it is not an attempt by the Prime Minister to woo the voters (in Assam), why such liberal packages have not been announced by him for states where elections are not due in the near future?" he asked.
During his recent Assam visit, Singh announced a Rs 6,000-crore investment plan for the state's energy sector.
"The Prime Minister is using the government treasury to impress the voters of Assam where elections are due later this year," Goel said.
