Dushyant Singh, first time Member of Parliament didn’t disappoint with the sound bytes. Never mind the frown he had initially when he tried to brush us off saying: “I am here on a personal visit.” Adorning a kurta, Singh spoke like a veteran politician at the do co-hosted by the Indian Cultural Heritage Society (ICHS) with the Abbasi family, a prominent business family from Lucknow, at the IIC.

“I’ve always been working in for the betterment of various aspects in life following the footsteps of my grandmother and mother,” says the 30-year-old MP. “I want to work more for the improvement of agriculture and I’d like to adopt the Israel model.”
Presiding over the evening from a makeshift dais was Begum Rafi Husain, Hony. General Secretary and founder of ICHS. “We want to promote Indian cultural heritage. This evening, of course, is dedicated to newly elected MPs and all those who’ve been given responsibility in various official bodies,” she said.
Felicitated at the do, among others: Haryana Governor AR Kidwai, MP Mohsina Kidwai, members of Planning Commission Dr Syeda Hameed and Anwar-ul-Huda, Hamirpur MP Raja Bahadur Shivendra Singh (who came with wife Yuvrani Yaman Kumari Singh).
“Parliament is off and people are out of town. So, everyone couldn’t come,” said Begum Husain. No wonder there was no sight of MPs like Sachin Pilot, Sandeep Dikshit, Jiten Prasad, Kirti Vardan Singh, and Manvendra Singh, among others.
