Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Bhakra Dam at Nangal, Hooda said understanding the significance of the Indus Water Treaty, Haryana had proposed the second Ravi-Beas Link, which would ensure utilisation of India's legitimate share in the water of Ravi river which was otherwise flowing into Pakistan.

"Though the Centre declared it as a national project in 2008, little headway had been made on this front," he regretted. The chief minister said the waters of the eastern rivers of Indus Basin had been allocated to India for unrestricted use under the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. "In this context, it was imperative that we should ensure that each and every drop of water of these rivers is gainfully utilised for the benefit of the nation which calls for a joint effort," he said.
