He said Dr Nazir Gilani was a son of soil who had every right to visit and stay in any part of the state.

He added, "Dr Gilani is not an ordinary person. He is the secretary general of Jammu Kashmir Council for Human Rights, the only Kashmiri party with special consultative status with the UN. He is a leading human rights activist who has made considerable contribution to the debate on human rights in Jammu and Kashmir."

Dr Choudhry said Dr Nazir Gilani was a chairman of the International Kashmir Alliance, a conglomerate of Kashmiri organisations working for peace, dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir."

"Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) authorities are totally wrong as a Kashmiri Dr Nazir Gilani has lived in AJK and Rawalpindi in the past, and there are no visa requirements to enter AJK territory," he further said.

"This act of AJK authorities shows that there are some people who are determined to create differences between peace loving Kashmiris and authorities in Pakistan, as AJK authorities could not have taken a step like this on their own."
